You'll get what you need; the musical understanding, the concepts, chords, techniques and riffs that allow you to enter the world of serious blues guitar playing."

About The Author:

Steve Krenz , according to the Learn & Master Guitar web site, has a degree in music and has played professionally with a broad range of bands from symphony orchestras to the well known "Fifth Dimension". Steve is currently an active guitarist playing and recording in Nashville, Tennessee. Besides having taught thousands of lessons to students of all ages and skill levels he has held guitar playing and music workshops all over the world.

Steve is soft spoken and down to earth with out being boring. His teaching was logical and thorough while moving along at a good pace. He cleverly offers short , fun and impressively inspiring performances as transitions between many lessons.

Who Will Benefit Most From The Blues Guitar Spotlight?

This blues guitar course is not for absolute beginners that have never touched a guitar. However, you don't need a lot of experience either. An experienced beginner that has not necessarily mastered the following skills but, has at least been introduced to them should succeed: barre chords, the notes of at least one Major scale, hammer-ons, pull-offs, bending strings, sliding and understand the music staff, tabs and chord diagrams.

Are These Lessons Designed For Electric or Acoustic Guitar Players?

While you need to learn and understand many of the same techniques for acoustic and electric blues this course has a focus on the electric blues.

What Is Included With This Blues Course

1. 6 DVDs of over 8 hours of practical instruction
2. Jam Along DVD & CD with over 20 songs in various styles for practice
3. In-depth interviews with legendary blues guitarists Jack Pearson & Johnny Hiland
4. Downloadable book
5. Easy to follow on-screen music and key ideas
6. Essential blues guitar techniques explained thoroughly and simply

The Negatives

The companion lesson manual has to be downloaded from the internet then read from your computer. Another option is to print it out on your printer or take it to kinkos to print and bind. All of these options are somewhat inconvenient but this download method does greatly reduce the cost of the overall course.

Support and Guarantee

An Online Support Community is available to each student. A 60 Day Money Back Guarantee is standard on all purchases from Legacy Learning Systems.

Price

The stand-alone Blues Guitar Course is $99 USD plus shipping (ships world wide)

The Bottom Line

What this course offers that so many others miss is a complete, detailed and thorough presentation that teaches the "why" of blues guitar. In fact Steve Krenz often warns the student to not just memorize a series of licks but instead learn to understand and actually hear the music. This is essential for developing your own unique brand of blues guitar soloing.

The fact is that if you are diligent about working through the dvds and practice sessions you will well on your way to being able to sit in with an unfamiliar band and instantly play a song you have never heard. The only instructions the band leader might need to tell you is to play the blues in "A" and you'll know exactly how to proceed.

This course offers an award winning guitarist and gifted instructor, a logical progression of the lessons, excellent video production values and a fair price. For these reasons, I have absolutely no problem recommending the Learn and Master Blues Guitar Spotlight with Steve Krenz.

Learn And Master Blues Guitar Lessons John Mackinnon has posted reviews of popular video blues guitar courses on his website CompareGuitarLessons.com. By instrumentals I mean music that is composed and played by a human using musical instruments rather than techno instrumentals that may not be composed and played in the traditional way. Not that there's anything wrong with that. I just thought it might be useful for some guitar players to take a quick look at the part the acoustic guitar has played in instrumental music. After all the acoustic guitar is the instrument that is always ready for us to pick up and express our feelings on. Plus it has the added advantage in that it does not disturb our family and neighbors too much.

The classical guitar is the original guitar in the form that is familiar to us. The electric guitar, the steel string acoustic, the resonator guitars all descended from the nylon string classical guitar. Classical guitar as a genre is simply classical music played on the guitar. It can get quite sophisticated and technically demanding but there are simple classical guitar pieces available on the net in musical notation or tabs that any guitar player with a basic fingerstyle technique could find very rewarding to play. Estudio in C by Dionisio Aguado and Gavotte En Rondeau - Lute Suite No 4 in E by J.S. Bach are two examples that I have seen in tab form.

If you are interested in listening to classical guitar music, John Williams and Julian Bream both have clips on YouTube and other video sites but do not restrict yourself to well-known names - there are many great acoustic instrumental clips by amateur guitarists.

You might be surprised to know that Flamenco guitar as a solo instrument is a fairly new arrival on the music scene. The guitar has been an accompaniment for singers and dancers for many years but solo guitarists have only been making their presence felt since the mid-twentieth century. The early Flamenco guitar players like Ramon Montoya produced music that would probably hold little interest for a modern non-Spanish audience but you will find video clips by masters of the 1950's and '60' like Sabicas and Diego Del Gastor as well as modern virtuoso guitarists like Paco De Lucia, Serranito, Paco Pena and Vincente Amigo.

We all like to listen and explore the sounds of our guitars and the folk music boom of the nineteen sixties was a breeding ground for many new guitarists who loved to experiment with acoustic guitar instrumental solos. Possibly the most popular guitar solo from this genre was "Anji" by am extremely influential guitarist named Davy Graham. This piece was recorded by Paul Simon on an early Simon And Garfunkel album and Davy Graham's "She moved thru' the Bizarre/Blue Raga" was heavily adapted (or adopted) by Jimmy Page for the Led Zeppelin number, "White Summer". Graham was responsible for the popularization of the DADGAD guitar tuning which introduced guitar players to the possibilities of playing bass accompaniment on open strings while improvising or composing tunes on the treble strings.

Well, I hope I the names I have given you will help you to find acoustic guitar solos and soloists you have never heard before. Remember if you any music you see played on one of the video sites is probably available somewhere in guitar tabs so do not be afraid to go hunting for them.

Do you want to learn to play the guitar? Learn How To Play A Guitar For Free is a constantly updated blog which contains all the resources you need for: learning to play solo guitar, how to learn guitar chords, how to learn to read and play easy acoustic guitar tabs, finding a free online guitar tuner, looking for free guitar lessons online, and how to learn guitar scales.

For more information click here

Free Guitar Lessons On YouTube

People with guitar lessons to sell are taking advantage of the general public's appetite for video clips on YouTube. There are guitar lessons covering any genre you care to name at any level of technical competence. And guitar students all over the world are lapping them up.

The trouble with making use of the guitar lessons available on YouTube, you need to already have some guitar expertise and knowledge so that you will know which video clips are going to be of benefit to you in your search for guitar-related knowledge.

If you want to learn how to play the guitar, you need a plan. You need to know where you are going and how to get there. So, assuming you know the style of guitar playing you are interested in learning, you will first need to learn the basics. So if you want to learn a specialized style of guitar playing like Flamenco or jazz, you will first need to be able to play some basic chords and have the bare minimum of right hand technique.

So if you don't have the basic ability in guitar playing yet, you will be looking on YouTube for video guitar lessons that teach you how to play chords and pluck or strum the strings. You will also need to know how to put the strings on your guitar, when to change them and how to tune them.

If you look around the internet for people talking about where to get free guitar video lessons, you will find that many, many guitarists are recommending Justin Sandercoe's site, justinguitar dot com.

Justin offers his lessons for free for those who can't pay for lessons, and if you can pay, you do it on the honor system. That in itself is good news but Justin's teaching skills are as good as or superior to any of the paid lessons online. Justin teaches you to play pop and rock songs and if you are a beginner you will find your direction immediately if you give Justin's videos a try.

Another popular guitar teacher on YouTube is David Taub who uses his free guitar video lessons to introduce us to his paid guitar lessons. David and Justin and many other guitar teachers make use of technology to give us close-up shots of their fingers as they play, and if we don't get it the first time, we can replay the video as many times as we like.

Blues Guitar Lesson From A Blues Piano Legend

Most people interested in the original blues, either guitar or piano, know the names of the blues legends. These are the old guys who invented the stuff. None of them had to learn the blues , they lived the blues! Men like Lightnin Hopkins, Robert Johnson and Big Bill Broonzy come to mind.

We can imagine how the legend surrounding Robert Johnson grew over the years. There are only two photographs left, both very similar, and his bluesmen friends that survived into the 70s talked freely about his celebrated meeting with satan at the crossroads. I didnt meet Broonzy, although there are some pieces of film left for us to enjoy, all can be seen on Youtube.

I was called by a man who worked in a band that supported Bill while touring the UK in the late 50s. He told me about about a big man who drank too much, laughed a lot and told colorful stories a lot of the time. His masterful guitar style was impossible to copy, and to this day, almost no-one has managed to duplicate Big Bills swinging style.

Some years ago, in 1998, I was living in Indiana and was often thirsty for the sound of old-style blues. Someone told me that there was a blues bar called Bucks Working Mans Pub in a town about 40 miles away in the town of La Porte. At the end of my working day, I eagerly jumped into the car and headed out.

Given directions by the locals, I drove down main street, turned left at the second corner past the town hall and crossed the railroad tracks to the wrong side of town. This is what I was looking for, Id get to see the real blues. The bar wasnt up to much. I got myself a drink and made my way to room at the back, drawn by the sound of a loud Chicago-style blues band.

The place wasnt empty, and it wasnt full. This kind of blues wasnt what I was interested in anyway I liked the old acoustic blues. The old fellow at my table said that the locals had hired the band as it was the proprietors birthday today. He didnt say much after that.

The band finished the number and the singer addressed the audience. Happy Birthday, Pinetop", he yelled, and then Ladies and gentlemen, Pinetop has agreed

to play a couple of numbers for us." The old guy at my table got up and walked up to the stage, sitting down in front of a grand piano. He played a slow boogie which became increasingly syncopated with each passing bar. My mouth dropped open as I realised Id been sitting next to a real master, an original bluesman.

He played just two songs before he shuffled past me out of the room. He didnt appear again that night. With hindsight, I thought of all the things I could have asked him, but maybe its just as well. It was the guys birthday and he might have been bothered by a strangers questions. Legends are just normal guys, you see.

Each passing year, the bluesmen are dissapearing, to be succeeded by newer legends. I also recall driving clear across Indiana and Michigan to listen to a modern blues legend, who will remain nameless, because of his words during our encounter. Thrilled, I said what a great way to live, to follow in the path of the old bluesmen travelling around playing the blues. Not a bit of it", he replied Its a pain and Id rather be at home doing something else!"

We need to remind ourselves legends are also human.

Interview with a modern bluesman.

For more information click here

Travis Picking Guitar

If you want an all round picking technique for guitar, choose Travis picking. The Travis referred to in the name is Merle Travis, the country guitar legend who not only invented a guitar picking style but also had a few hits with his songwriting. Travis picking originally just used the thumb and index finger but was extended to the use of the second and third fingers by Chet Atkins in the mistaken belief that Travis could not possibly be getting his sound by the use of just one finger.

The basis of Travis picking is the alternating bass. This is because finger picking on the guitar was inspired by ragtime piano playing. It might help you to get the spirit of Travis picking if you remember that.

An accomplished Travis picking guitarist has a whole range of picking patterns he can use to accompany and solo with. To begin your Travis picking journey you will need to learn one picking pattern and get it flowing smoothly. The basic idea is that the thumb keeps the rhythm going while the fingers pick the melody and the grace notes.

To start practicing Travis picking, fret an A minor chord with your left hand and pick the open fifth string with your thumb while at the same time picking the open first string with your second finger. That's your first beat.

The next beat is made up of two movements: pick the fourth string with your thumb (that's half a beat) and pick the second string with your first finger (another half a beat).

Pick the fifth string again with your thumb for half a beat and then pick the first string with your second finger for half a beat.

The final of your four beats is: pick the fourth string for half a beat and then the second string with the first finger.

The tab looks like this (remember you're holding an A minor chord:

e-0----------0-----------|

B-------1---------1------|

G------------------------|

D-----2---------2--------|

A-0--------0-------------|

E------------------------|

Even if you have no experience with guitar finger picking, you should have this pattern repeating itself nicely within a week. Of course, you can try it out on different chords and vary the strings you pick. Don't try to go too fast at first, because you need to be very comfortable with the way your fingers are moving on your guitar before you attempt any Travis picking at high speed.

Three Easy Guitar Solos for Beginners

Guitar lovers adore the guitar solo. Whether it's Slash ripping it up in November Rain" or Eddie Van Halen shredding during Eruption", that is the stuff great guitar players are made of.

If you're just getting started on the guitar you're probably not going to want to try and learn intro to Hot for Teacher" right away. It's best to start with some easier guitar solos to sharpen your skills and then progress to more difficult solos as you advance.

In this article I'll share with you three easy guitar solos I think most guitar players who've been playing for three or four months will be able to learn. I suggest finding a tab for each of these solos on your favorite guitar tabs website and giving yourself a couple of days with each to master it.

Intro to Sweet Child O Mine

The intro to this song, while not one of Slash's solos as per se, is a very memorable riff and sounds great. It takes a bit of time getting the timing and changes down but once you do you're friends will love it. I'd suggest playing and practicing this one with an electric guitar. Playing it with acoustic just doesn't have the same impact.

Solo from Acoustic Version of Layla

The original version of this song was amazing, and some how Eric Clapton out did himself with his unplugged version of Layla. The solo in this song sounds a lot more difficult then it actually is. He's not all over the neck or playing too quickly. With some solid practice for a day or so you'll have this easy solo under your fingers.

This is probably the best easy guitar solo for the acoustic guitar out there.

Wipeout

I wanted to throw this one in there for two reasons. One, it's super fun to play and easy to learn. Two, if you're a fresh beginner on the guitar then the other two easy solos I listed are probably still going to be a bit too difficult for you.

Wipeout is played only on 3 strings and it's repetitive so it helps build speed for both your fretting and picking hands.

With all three of these guitar solos be sure to start learning them first slowly then add speed as you begin to get the changes and notes under your fingers.

If you love lead guitar, then you probably love the blues. Almost all rock music can find it's roots in blues guitar so if you really want to master scales and solos consider a blues guitar dvd to sharpen your skills and understanding of how to play great solos.

For more information click here

Spanish Guitar Songs, Chords And Scales

When you take up the acoustic guitar you want to play songs, right? Maybe to sing some songs around the campfire. Lots of pop songs and folk songs sound good accompanied by the acoustic guitar but a sudden wish to play Spanish guitar songs often takes hold of you. If you can play Spanish guitar songs or Spanish sounding instrumentals it is a mark of your progress as a guitar player. This is a wish that many guitarists have but not too many know how to go about finding suitable Spanish flavored music to play.

In order to be some help to these guitarists who wish to have a serious guitar piece to play, I will throw in some suggestions. I know that many of the songs we identify as Spanish guitar pieces are fairly advanced technically but I am not going to leave any out of my list on the basis of technical difficulty. Any guitar piece you hear is probably available on tab and it is up to you to decide once you attempt to play the tab whether you are trying to play something that is too hard for you.

So when we think Spanish music what artists do we think of? There is The Gypsy Kings, Rodrigo Y Gabriela, Paco De Lucia. How about Jose Feliciano. He played Spanish guitar style arrangements of a couple of Beatles songs.

Or there is Spanish Caravan by The Doors. This was actually a mixture of a Flamenco guitar style called Granadinas and a classical guitar piece called Asturias by Isaac Albeniz. The guitar playing sounded impressive on the record but it is not a great technical challenge. You can get the general flavor of the intro to Spanish Caravan by playing the B, C and D bar chords at the second, third and fifth frets. They are all the same chord shape which is based on the A major chord shape in the first position. Here is the B bar chord in tab:

e--2--------------------|

B--4--------------------|

G--4--------------------|

D--4--------------------|

A--2--------------------|

E-----------------------|

Now to get the Flamenco flavor into these chords, take the bar off and put your first finger back on the fifth string and let the first string ring open in all three positions.

So now your B chord is:

e--0--------------------|

B--4--------------------|

G--4--------------------|

D--4--------------------|

A--2--------------------|

E-----------------------|

You can also try the same technique by removing the bar from the F major shape, and moving it up the fretboard to see how it sounds.

Some popular Spanish songs you could Google are: Compostelana, La Tarara, Volver, Bomboleiro, Bomoleira, Adelita and La Morena de mi Copla. These are all well-known songs that chords, lyrics and tabs should not be too hard to find on the web.

Country Tab For Guitar

Country music is extremely popular and country tab for guitar is one of the most sought-after types of learning materials for guitar players. So as an acoustic guitar player you are going to need a repertoire.

When I think of popular acoustic guitar songs, I can't help but think of Peter, Paul And Mary. No, not the biblical ones, the folk group from the sixties. At that time in America and England there was an interest on the part of the younger generation in the folk music of their respective countries. One of the few groups to cash in on the folk boom to any great extent was Peter, Paul And Mary.

Peter, Paul And Mary helped Bob Dylan become the legend that he is by making his songs accessible to the wider music-loving public. The ones who did not find a nasal whine romantic or, indeed attractive in any way. So here's a lesson in getting together a repertoire of popular acoustic guitar songs: your presentation is paramount.

Bob Dylan wrote the songs. He had the feelings that connected with a generation of angry and discontented young people. But Peter, Paul And Mary brought the composer and the audience together. So a popular acoustic guitar song need not be one that people have heard of before. It could be a song that you MAKE popular. Maybe not to a worldwide audience, but your own circle of friends is a start.

The Doors recorded a song called Light My Fire. It was a loud driving rock song. It was re-worked by Jose Feliciano as a Latin ballad and reached number three on the pop charts. To many music fans Jose Feliciano's version of Light My Fire is the definitive one. Now THAT is a popular acoustic guitar song. Eric Clapton's acoustic version of Layla is another example of a popular acoustic guitar song that started life as something totally different.

So, you have something to think about regarding presentation when you consider how you get together an acoustic guitar repertoire. Another factor that kind of relates to presentation is how your technical expertise on the guitar matches up with the demands of the song. If you find yourself fumbling your chord changes maybe you should look for some substitutions or a simpler song.

Acoustic guitar songs can be both popular and easy to play. The America song, Horse With No Name can be played using only one chord. There are a gazzilion songs with only three chords. House Of The Rising Sun is an extremely popular song often played on acoustic guitar, which has only four easy chords.

We have thought about the importance of presentation when looking for popular acoustic guitar songs. We have also mentioned not overextending our guitar technique. Two simple ideas that are extremely important when you are choosing popular acoustic guitar songs for your repertoire.

Acoustic Guitar Finger Picking

Acoustic guitar finger picking is often taken up by guitarists who have been playing the guitar for a year or three who want to find out what finger picking can do for their playing. Sometimes a guitar player will make up his own finger picking techniques as an ad hoc measure to get a solo or accompaniment to sound good, but there's always the need to know the basic principles behind finger picking guitar styles.

There are many different finger picking techniques like classical, Travis Picking, chord melody and flamenco. One way to get into finger picking is to get hold of a book or DVD by one of the authorities on the subject. Mark Hanson is always mentioned as a great fingerstyle guitar player and teacher, as is Al Petteway. Pete Huttlinger has put out a info-packed DVD called Essential Exercises for Fingerstyle Guitar. Happy Traum also has a great deal of teaching material for fingerpickers on Homespun Tapes.

Unfortunately, no one finger picking style will give you a real introduction to all styles. Fortunately, you do not need to know a great range of playing styles to give you a general understanding of playing using the right hand fingers. As an example, a folk guitar player with some experience with finger picking patterns and scales will be able to play some pieces from the classical guitar repertoire but he won't necessarily sound much like a classical guitarist.

Some guitarists who have played using a plectrum are discouraged by the difficulty of trying to coordinate the thumb and fingers. The key to getting the fingers and thumb working as independent units is slow practice. Really slow. Put your metronome on a very low setting and play the bass notes of the chords, only adding an incidental note with the first finger when you are feeling confident.

Another question guitar players have about beginning finger picking guitar is on the choice of songs to learn. My advice is that there is no need to be too ambitious. Choose a song that is maybe a little below your technical standard and start with strumming the chords until you have the feel of playing along to the lyrics.

Once you have the general rhythm of the song, grab a finger picking pattern in the correct time signature from a guitar tutor or a free guitar lesson website and apply it to your song. The House Of The Rising Sun as played by The Animals is a good song for a beginner finger picking guitar player as is Tears In Heaven by Eric Clapton. More Than Words by Extreme is another good, simple song, and when you are feeling more ambitious, go onto Stairway To Heaven. To give you a challenge for your left hand, look for tabs and YouTube video lessons on a classical guitar piece called The Anonymous Romance or Spanish Romance.

Acoustic Guitar Solo Instrumentals

Acoustic guitar solos make up a slice of a musical genre that has all but vanished from popular music - instrumentals.

Beatles Guitar Tabs For Acoustic Fingerstyle

I sometimes see that guitar players advise students to learn songs by The Beatles, especially if they are learning fingerstyle acoustic. As searching for tabs that suit your taste and playing ability is sometimes a little bit boring and frustrating, I thought I would tell you about a book that has tabs for thirty songs by The Beatles arranged for solo acoustic guitar.

The book is called Fingerpicking Beatles and the tunes are essentially the vocal melody with basic bass lines and some chords. Chords are also featured so you can change the arrangement a little if you feel that it could be improved or it doesn't suit your taste.

The book also has standard music notation, instructions on how to play each song accompanied by photos. If you are not an experienced guitar player, the book also has a basic tutor on fingerstyle guitar. To add to the enjoyment, the book also has the words.

The advantage of the classical style of finger picking is the potential to bring out different voices in the piece you are playing by making use of bass lines and accompanying notes.

Quite often a guitarist will get some experience and some technique under his belt but feel that he could go just that little bit further. This collection of songs will definitely help if you need to raise the bar on your fingerstyle guitar picking.

Here is the complete list of songs:

A Day In The Life
Across The Universe
All You Need Is Love
And I Love Her
Blackbird
Can't Buy Me Love
Dear Prudence
Eleanor Rigby
Free As A Bird
Here, There And Everywhere
Hey Jude
In My Life
Lady Madonna
Let It Be
Love Me Do
Michelle
Norwegian Wood (This Bird Has Flown)
Nowhere Man
Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da
Octopus's Garden
Penny Lane
Please Please Me
Something
The Long And Winding Road
Ticket To Ride
We Can Work It Out
When I'm Sixty-Four
Yellow Submarine
Yesterday
You've Got To Hide Your Love Away

The guitar is not a great instrument for sight reading but some of these arrangements are simple enough for a reasonably seasoned guitarist to carry off the first time they see it. Some of the songs did not strike me as being great choices for solo guitar playing, but maybe it's a matter of taste.

The song, Blackbird by The Beatles is a favorite amongst fingerstyle guitar players and all Beatles songs seem to have timeless quality and a melody that lends itself to the needs of a solo guitar picker.

Popular Acoustic Guitar Songs

The search for popular acoustic guitar songs begins when you realize that you have bought some expertise on your guitar, and you have realized that your favourite songs don't fill as much time as you assumed they would. I'm a local guitarist who's been in the California bar circuit for nearly a decade now. When I'm not playing session guitars for my buddies in the industry, I provide them with quality guitar servicing as a luthier and parts dealer in downtown Los Angeles.
Today I'm here to talk about strings"Elixir strings, to be exact. Have you guys ever heard of this string brand? It's something of an industry secret, and I use it specifically for my instruments.

Why do I use them? Simple: because most new guitarists pay little attention to the strings they use for acoustic and classical guitars. The same goes for intermediate guitarists: when they ask me or one of my buddies to jam with them, you can tell that they're skilled, but lacking in the tech department. Specifically speaking, these guys use low-quality strings that sound dead. Nothing ruins a good jam session more than dead strings that are permanently out of tune and pitch.

That's a secret professional guitarists like to call string theory. These guys spend hours just testing all kinds of strings. Some of these folks actually work with guitar techs just to come up with what they think is the perfect string for their sound. Seeing all this effort go to waste with amateur guitarists breaks my heart"if they don't read about it on the Internet or somewhere else, they wouldn't even consider testing out strings for their quality. For these guys, a string is just a string.

That's something I'd like to address. I'm going to try to gloss over the technical aspects in a way that will help you understand why Elixir changed the way I played my guitar"and why you should be more particular with the strings you choose, too.

Tension
First of all, let's start talking about tension. Not a lot of people put enough emphasis on this factor when they string their guitars, and theoretically, for a beginner, it shouldn't matter. But let's take the example of a little kid who started playing guitar at the age of twelve.

The common thing most parents would do when they have a kid who's learning how to use a guitar is to just buy them any old cheap thing they find on the street. The kid's just learning, right? Who would notice the guitar's quality?

Wrong. These low-quality guitars have steel strings which are very tense for the kid. The child will have difficulty handling the guitar and his learning will be ruined. It is possible that it may lessen the kid's enthusiasm to learn the instrument.

Elixir guitar strings are not the softest like Steve Vai's strings but they are very comfortable for the fingers. When you get too little string tension, you will never have a decent tone because of the slack string. However, too much tension will make it even hard for you to play the guitar. Elixir is just perfect guitar strings.

String Gauge
Aside from the material your strings are made of, the thickness of the string also affects the way you play, and the way you sound.

Most classical and acoustic guitarists go with a standard string gauge of .012 at the thinnest string. That's a given standard, and it usually has a clear, mellow sound that's a little bit tinnish at the end. The thinner you go, the wispier the sound is going to be. It's good for maneuvering through the fret board, though, so ultimately it's your choice. Unless your guitar has a decent soundhole and is made of good wood for reverberations, though, don't go for thinner string gauges.

Thick string gauges, like the Elixir acoustic guitar string's resonator".016 at the high E"are extremely difficult to handle for amateur guitarists, but the sound, as the name implies, is sweet, rich and milky. If you know how to work around your strings and adjust your picking style to the thickness of the string gauge, the Elixir resonator is perfect, bar none.

Steel and Nylon
Now, since we're talking about acoustic strings here, it's a rather odd twist talking about the differences between steel and nylon strings. But the most basic difference, aside from the fact that nylon and acoustic guitars are two completely different animals, again lies in the sound.

Simply put, if you're after a more aggressive sound that focuses on attitude and power, a steel-stringed guitar is what you need to get for yourself. Take a hint from guitar greats like Eric Clapton and the Allman Brothers: nothing plays the blues better than a decent steel-stringer.

If you have soft fingers, or if you're more interested in a lighter, more classical sound, a nylon classical guitar is what you need. Jazz greats like Chet Atkins and Paco de Lucia, and even the Gyspsy Kings all use nylon-stringed guitars.

Don't take the strings you use for your guitars lightly. If you can spend time looking for decent string brands like the Elixir acoustic guitar strings, do so. Sometimes, adjusting the elements of what you play can greatly affect the way your guitar playing sounds, and to a musician, even the smallest improvement in tone is a big deal.

For more information click here

Online Guitar Lessons

Many people would love to learn how to play the guitar.

Praise And Worship Guitar Lessons

Make Innovative Christian Music With Praise and Worship Guitar Lessons

Why Praise and Worship Guitar Lessons?

Praise and worship guitar lessons are one of the most exciting and fun ways that you can praise the Lord with your creative gifts. As a Christian musician, you have been chosen to share your gift with the world through song and to spread the Lord's message to non-believers. If you hone your skills as a Christian guitarist, your voice will be much more effective and your power and influence will grow. Through your study of praise and worship guitar, you will learn about music from different styles like jazz, blues, rock and soul. After that, you will then learn how to incorporate these forms of music into your praise and worship music styling.

Who Should Study With Praise and Gospel Guitar Lessons?

Praise and gospel guitar lessons are a great idea for young and new musicians as well as seasoned musical veterans that have learned about guitar playing in the non-Christian world. Even if you are an experienced guitar player who has learned to play guitar effectively, and has played in multiple non-Christian bands, there is still something you can learn from taking praise and worship guitar lessons. You can learn about traditional gospel music, and you can learn how gospel music has changed over the years. You can learn about group praise of the Lord rather than learning about how to gain group praise for yourself or other band mates--like traditional bands often focus on doing. You will learn how to praise the Lord through your music, rather than using it to garner praise for yourself.

Kids will truly enjoy starting off their music lessons with praise and gospel guitar lessons. They will understand their relationship with Jesus Christ much better by participating in lessons such as these. Studies have proven that children learn in many different ways. While adults have spent many years learning from lectures, and have the self-discipline to learn about the Lord in church, children still learn like children and obtain great benefits from learning about praising the Lord through song. This is a great way to share God's message with your child, while teaching your child a useful and creative skill.

For more information click here

Guitar Lessons Online - Basic Guitar Lessons for Beginners

If you have looked online to find some free, easy guitar lessons you probably have found that most of them are not so very useful. Yes, there are many websites that you can look at but not all of them will help you in any certain way. And what is worse is that while some will show you tips, they might actually not teach you anything.

Whenever you venture into learning anything it is always best to learn the right way to do it, learning to play the guitar is the same. Picking up a bad habit is always easy to do, but if you start with bad habits at the beginning of your guitar playing odds are that you will have a hard time breaking them later on.

There are many things that you should consider when looking for free, easy to learn guitar lessons online. Things such as whether or not they teach you how to hold the guitar as well as how to hold the pick. Also you will need to learn the chord names, finger placement and progressions. Well, and let's not forget the scale names, intervals and fingerings. These are all things that you should look for when trying to find online guitar lessons. Some places will even teach you some useful practice lessons as well as warm-ups.

More often than not, when you are searching for free guitar lessons online, you will come across a lot of lessons that will just give you tablature of your favorite songs. That sounds nice and all but a lot of the time these tablatures are transcribed by guitar players who don't have much more experience than you yourself do. Kind of like the blind leading the blind huh?

For this reason, it is best to make sure that these free and easy to learn guitar lessons you find have some at least a few of the aspects that I listed for you earlier. This will ensure that you actually have a chance of learning the guitar and not a badly transcribed song. Once you learn the fingerings of the chords and scales, as well as learn a good practice routine including a warm up exercise or two, you will ensure that you are practicing the good habits of playing the guitar.

With all of the bogus advice you find online it can be very difficult to decipher which is which. But once you do, no amount of book reading can take place of actually playing the guitar. You need to take the time to actually sit down and put what you've learned into play.

So remember, when you go looking online for your guitar lessons, try to make sure that you find ones that teach you the best way to learn to play the guitar.

Bryan Haizel has over 37 years of guitar playing experience. Perhaps they may know how to play one style of guitar, such as country style guitar but they would like to branch out and learn how to also play classical guitar. Even if your interest is more for bass guitar or lead guitar, there are DVDs available that will teach you step by step how to play. Each DVD guitar lesson is generally equivalent to one lesson of one-on-one tutoring.

The first thing to do when choosing a DVD guitar lesson is to decide exactly what style of guitar playing you would like to learn. Once you have decided that you will have narrowed your choices down considerably. Then, you should try to preview some of the DVDs if you can, so that you can find a style of teaching that is good for you. Not everyone teaches in the same manner, and by the same token students learn via different methods as well. If you are serious about learning to play the guitar, you will need to find a DVD guitar lesson that you feel you will be able to learn from.

One idea, if you are not sure what type of DVD lesson would best suit you, is to look around online for some samples or for reviews on DVD guitar lessons. There are quite a few sites that preview guitar lesson DVDs and you may be able to find something online that seems to be what you are looking for.

Once you have purchased the DVD the real fun of actually learning to play guitar begins. Even though you will not be able to ask questions of your DVD tutor, if you follow the lessons in the right order and listen carefully and follow through on the instructions given you should soon be able to play tunes and change notes. It may take a little perseverance but the more you practice the better guitar player you will become.

For more information click here

Classical Guitar Lessons - Where Will They Take Me?

The classical guitar is a gift to the guitarist who wants to sit down and play a "complete" piece of music - melody, bass and chordal accompaniment on one guitar. Alot like the kind of freedom that piano players have. If you are thinking of taking classical guitar lessons you have a tradition of composers and guitar players who have made full use of the incredible versatility of the guitar. Many classical composers played and composed for the guitar. Niccolo Paganini is a famous example even though his guitar compositions are a little on the ordinary side for modern music lovers. Much more substantial compositions were written by Antonio Vivaldi, Dionisio Aguado and Domenico Scarlatti.

So, apart from a hefty heritage left from the Baroque, Renaissance and Classical periods we have the ongoing work of twentieth and twenty-first century classical guitar players who are devoted to making the acoustic guitar an expressive instrument endowed with a natural beauty unaided by electronic wizardry. A classical guitarist aims at training his body to bring a range of forces to bear on the guitar so that he has a range of subtle techniques at his disposal to enable him and his guitar to say whatever they want.

All guitar players who take their instrument seriously have an ability to create and interpret music. This musical ability is a product of the time and effort put into practicing their guitar playing and experimenting with different ways of playing music. In a sense a rock or jazz guitar player is on an equal playing field with a classical guitarist as far as the ability to interpret or create music is concerned. The rock or jazz guitar player will even have an advantage over the classical player as far as improvisation goes. Classical guitar lessons will not help you to improvise.

The difference between a classical guitar player and a plectrum player is the groups of muscles used to play classical guitar music. Somebody like Eric Clapton works alone at copying blues artists and in a few years he is a professional guitarist and in about ten years he is one of the greatest electric guitarists of all time. A classical guitar student might just be finding his voice after ten years of playing. There is much more blood, sweat and tears involved in classical guitar lessons.

A classical guitarist needs to cultivate his fingernails. Or his fingertips. Whatever is on the ends of his fingers is where he makes physical contact with the guitar strings. There are ways of shaping them so they sound just right. There are secret potions for making them impervious to cracking. And there is a whole art to playing the classical guitar without the benefit of nails. The attack made by nails on guitar strings is similar to that of a plectrum. The flesh of the guitarist's fingertips gives a much softer tone. This is achieved over time and with much work. Callouses will eventually form on the fingertips which will lessen the discomfort felt by the guitar player and help him make contact with the strings.

There are books available for anybody who wants to teach themselves classical guitar but it is much better to learn from a seasoned classical guitarist. If you insist on learning from books, Frederick Noad's "Solo Guitar Playing" is probably the best of them.

Guitar Lessons Online - Basic Guitar Lessons for Beginners

If you have looked online to find some free, easy guitar lessons you probably have found that most of them are not so very useful. Regardless of whether it is an acoustic or an electric, an amplifier or a Les Paul, you know you are buying a Gibson which has enough being said by the name alone. From its inception in the early 1900s when Orville Gibson first created his custom design, till date when one picks up a Gibson Acoustic Guitar, one knows with guarantee that the sound and the style they are receiving can not be matched!

Even though the Orville Gibson started with a single patent for a mandolin design, today one can proudly read about the heritage behind the Gibson acoustic guitar, as well as other guitars made by the company. The prime reason for prominence given to this company is how Gibson managed to change the entire face of the acoustic guitar industry. This man and his company are today the premiere producers of acoustic guitars; name the Gibson Acoustic Guitar range.

The American Workhouse, more commonly known as the Gibson J45 one of the best Gibson Acoustic Guitars there is. It is probably the most famous and the most popular acoustic guitar made by any company.
Also, the King of Flattops - or the Gibson SJ200, has been popularized by great musicians like Pete Townsend, Buddy Holly and even the Everly Brothers. There is a whole range of different types or flavours of guitars available in the SJ series which are hand crafted in the Montana plant which is also where the best Gibson acoustic guitars are made.

If you want the best Gibson jazz acoustic guitar, be sure to pick up the L5. This was one of the jazz folks' favorite models and people like Wes Montgomery, Scotty Moore, and Django Reinhardt etc used this model. This guitar might seems slightly over priced to you but do remember when you are buying this guitar you are buying a part of history with it. This guitar will take you back to when Jazz was really jazz, and not an imitation.

If you would prefer a lower end acoustic guitar do check out the range offered by Epiphone. They are a vital part of the Gibson acoustic Guitar industry and cater more to afford ability than to statements in style.
Even though the Epiphone Gibson Acoustic guitar aims more at afford ability, these guitars have been a hundred odd years in the making, so you are still getting the promise of genuine quality with each guitar bought. When you are looking for a used Gibson guitar
Vistit my blog, you find great tips and information before you buy a Gibson guitar.

For more information click here

Download free MP4 movies

Hey, every one!

Are you a YouTube fans?

Acoustic Guitar Solo Instrumentals

Acoustic guitar solos make up a slice of a musical genre that has all but vanished from popular music - instrumentals.

How To Play Guitar - Beginner - 4 Must Have Guitar Effect Pedals: Distortion, Delay, Chorus, and Re

If you don't own them already, at some point, you will encounter what are called guitar effects. Guitar effects are used to enhance the tone and sound of your instrument. Guitar effects can dramatically change your guitar sound, or simply make your guitar sound sonically rich.

When you enter the world of guitar effects, it can be quite overwhelming to know what the best guitar effects to purchase are. From stomp boxes, to full rack mount guitar effects, there is an unending supply of sound available to enhance your guitar playing sound and abilities.

Let's take a look at 4 must-have guitar effects that you will want to utilize in your guitar playing experience.

1. Distortion
2. Delay
3. Chorus
4. Reverb

1. Distortion: If you've ever heard a hard rock band, chances are you have heard a guitar player that is using distortion. Believe it or not, distortion is not just limited to heavy metal playing guitar players. Many jazz guitar players incorporate distortion into their sound. Even rock and blues players will incorporate a light distortion sound, giving their clean tone an extra edge to the sound that their guitar produces. There are unlimited types of distortion available to the guitar player making distortion a great way to craft your own unique guitar tone.

2. Delay: Think back to a time where you were yelling your name in a concrete stairwell, or shouting your name across a canyon, and while you were calling out your name you heard your name repeat over and over. You have just experienced delay. Another name for delay is echo. Delay as a guitar effect is basically when the sound that you produce on your guitar repeats itself over and over again. There are short delays, and long delays. Short delays are great for adding rhythmic variation to your guitar. Long delays are a great way to add excitement within your guitar solos.

3. Chorus: The idea behind the effect known as chorus is when you have an overlapping blend of voices sounding together. Chorus on the guitar is similar to having many guitar‘s overlapping together. Chorus is a great guitar effect when played on a clean guitar tone. Both electric and acoustic guitars will sound great with chorus added to the sound mix of your guitar.

4. Reverb: Very similarly related to delay is the effect called reverb. If hearing the sound repeat over and over again is called delay, the part of the sound that continues onward after you've stopped playing is called reverb. Right now, clap your hand in the room that you're in. If you're in a small room your handclap will not last very long. In a large auditorium however, the after sound of clapping your hand might last for a few seconds. You'll also hear the effects of natural reverb by yelling your name in a concrete stairwell, or a canyon. Reverb is a great guitar effect that can add depth to your sound. Thick Reverb guitar effects are generally not recommended playing with live because reverb can muddy up your guitar sound. Instead, try adding reverb to your guitar in a studio recording. In a home studio recording, reverb can make your guitar sound amazing.

Interested in learning to play the guitar?: CLICKHERE FOR FREE GUITAR VIDEO LESSONS:how to play guitar beginner

With a passion to teach guitar, Jeremiah La Follette helps beginner and intermediate guitar players unlock the secrets of learning guitar in a snap!

For more information click here

Download free MP4 movies

Hey, every one!

Are you a YouTube fans?

Learn Guitar the Easy Way, Via a DVD Guitar Lesson At Home

Many people would love to learn how to play guitar, but they just do not have to time to do so.

Popular Acoustic Guitar Songs

The search for popular acoustic guitar songs begins when you realize that you have bought some expertise on your guitar, and you have realized that your favourite songs don't fill as much time as you assumed they would. So as an acoustic guitar player you're going to need a repertoire. When I think of popular acoustic songs, i can't help thinking of Peter, Paul And Mary. No, not the biblical ones, the folk group from the sixties. At that point in America and England there was an interest on the part of the younger generation in the folk music of their respective nations. One of the few groups to cash in on the people boom to any great extent was Peter, Paul And Mary. Peter, Paul And Mary helped Bob Dylan become the legend that he is by making his songs accessible to the wider music-loving public. The ones who did not find a nasal whine romantic or, indeed tasty in any way. So here's a lesson in getting together a repertoire of well-liked acoustic guitar songs : your presentation is supreme. Bob Dylan wrote the tunes. He had the feelings that connected with a generation of annoyed and discontented younger people. But Peter, Paul And Mary brought the composer and the audience together. So a favored song need not be one that people have heard all about before. It could be a song that you MAKE popular. Perhaps not to a worldwide audience, but your own circle of buddies is a start. The Doors recorded a song called Light My Fire. It was a loud driving rock song. It was re-worked by Jose Feliciano as a Latin ballad and reached number 3 on the pop charts. To many music fans Jose Feliciano's version of Light My Fire is the definitive one. Now THAT is a favored song. Eric Clapton's acoustic version of Layla is another example of a popular acoustic guitar song that started life as something totally different. So, you've got something to think about about presentation when you factor in how you get together an acoustic guitar repertoire. Another factor that kind of relates to presentation is how your technical experience on the guitar matches up with the demands of the tune. If you find yourself fumbling your chord changes perhaps you should look for some substitutions or an easier song. Acoustic guitar songs can be both popular and straightforward to play. The America song, horse With No Name can be played using only one chord. There are a gazzilion songs with only 3 chords. House Of The Rising Sun is an extremely well liked song frequently played on acoustic guitar, that has only 4 simple chords. We have considered the importance of presentation when looking for popular acoustic guitar songs. We have also discussed not overextending our guitar strategy. 2 simple ideas that are extremely important when you're choosing popular acoustic guitar songs for your repertoire. Easy Way to Learn GuitarPopular Acoustic Guitar Songs.

For more information click here

Popular Acoustic Guitar Songs

The quest for popular acoustic guitar songs begins when you find that you have acquired some expertise on your acoustic guitar, and you have realized that your favorite songs don't fill as much time as you thought they would.
